Biochemisty I Homework
This page is under ongoing construction, some links may not be available, please be patient. "Give 'em a break."
Homework Assignments
This page contains the list of problems from the text (Biochemistry by Lupert Stryer) and links to supplemental problems.
Homework is not collected, however exam questions are often very similar to the assigned problems. Copies of the 1994 exams are on reserve in the library.
Chapter 2
1,3,4,6,7,8
Also: memorize the structures, names, three letter and one letter codes for all 20 amino acids. Here is a list of the rationales used for assigning the one letter codes to the amino acids.
Chapter 3
1-8, 10 and 12
Practice pI calculations for amino acids and for polypeptides
Chapter 4
1,2,4,5,7-14 and 15a
Structures to memorize:
- all of the components of DNA and RNA, for example: guanine, guanosine, 2-deoxyguanosine, 2-deoxyguanosine mono phosphate
- the activated precursors for DNA sythesis, dATP, dGTP, dCTP. dTTP
- the triphosphate ribonucleotides: ATP, GTP, CTP. UTP
- G-C, A-T and A-U base pairs, with hydrogen bonds
