Group Assignments for Fall 2004

Group Assignment #2

Everyone: Do all of the homework problems in chapter 3, they will not be collected. They could show up on future quizzes.

Everyone: After you do problem number 2, do the same exercise with a the amino acid that has been assigned to your group. 

• Blue's Clues: Glutamate
• Cinoi Neerg Maet: Histidine
• Barney Five: Arginine
• Crazy Daisies: Tyrosine
• Red Hots: Cysteine
• Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Lysine

On one piece of paper:

1. Draw all of the ionization reactions for your amino acid. Be sure to show the net charge on each species.
2. Draw a complete titration curve for your amino acid.
3. Show what species predominates at each of the end points and midpoints of the titration curve.

Each page will be made into a transparency and then each group will have five (5) minutes (or less!) to share their titration curve with the class.

Bring your one page document to class on Wednesday Sept 22. Be prepared to explain your transparency to the class on Friday Sept 24.
