Group assignments for Chapter 12

Each group will give a brief description of one of these topics, including what type of transport is involved, any disease states that are associated with their topic and any toxins that affect it/or were used to study it.

For Wednesday; February 20th:

1. HIV entry into a cell


2. Aquaporins


3. Glucose transporter on RBC membranes


4. Chloride/bicarbonate exchanger



For Monday, February 25th:

1. Transport ATPases

2. GlutT2 transporters

3. Ligand gated Acetyl choline receptor

4. Neuronal Sodium ion channel

Chapter 12 in class exercise

1. Imagine that you are a hydrophilic molecule inside a red blood cell. How do you perceive the cell membrane? Write a brief description, including all the parts of a membrane. You may use an illustration, but you must fully discuss your figure in your text.
